Getting started

While your video is being made

Once you click Create video, the video’s page shows it being made, in four steps: Open page, AI records, Voiceover and Edit & render. The line under them says what’s happening, with a countdown while it renders.

  • The browser view: the site as SayScreen works it, updated after every action, with a ● LIVE badge while it records. It sometimes sits still while the AI decides what to do next. That pause is cut out of the finished video.
  • Recorded so far: each recorded step, with the words the narrator will say there.
  • The activity feed: each step as it’s recorded, plus sign-ins, problems, and anything SayScreen left out on purpose (see What SayScreen won’t do in your account). It stays on the video’s Activity tab afterwards.

The AI clears cookie banners, product tours and chat pop-ups away off camera, unless your request is about them.

Last of all, while the line says Writing the YouTube details, the video’s titles, description and thumbnail are written, which takes about 15 seconds. Then the badge says Ready and the video appears.

The video is made on SayScreen’s servers, so closing the page, going elsewhere in the app or putting your computer to sleep doesn’t stop it. Come back to it from your list of videos: the sidebar, or Videos on a phone. There’s no email when it’s done.

The one thing that needs you is a sign-in: if the site asks for one partway, the video waits for you for 20 minutes. See Record a site that needs a sign-in.

If the badge says Queued with Waiting for another video to finish, yours starts on its own as soon as it can.

Each account makes one video at a time, from recording to rendering. Meanwhile you can still change other videos or start Discovery, but they wait in line until it’s done.

Click Cancel at the top of the page. A video you stop uses no minutes, unless it was already in its last moments of rendering. Afterwards you can click Start again. If you stopped it after the recording was done, during Voiceover or Edit & render, and it has at least 2 steps, Render what was recorded makes a video from them.

It depends on the lesson and the site: a short task takes a few minutes, a long one longer. The four steps show where it’s up to, and rendering shows the seconds left.
