Editing your video
Record a video again
Record again makes a whole new recording of a video: SayScreen works the site from the start again with the same start page and request, writes new narration and makes a new video. Use it when the site has changed since the video was made, or for a different take.
To change only the words, the look or the voice, you don’t need a new recording. See Change the words or remove a step and Change the look and add music.
Record a video again
Section titled “Record a video again”- Open the video.
- Click Record again at the top of the page.
- SayScreen asks Record this video again? Click Record again to start.
While it records
Section titled “While it records”Your current video is set aside until the new one is done: you can’t watch, download or change it in the meantime.
If the new recording fails, gets cancelled or stops early, your previous video comes back as it was, script changes and all, and the page says The new recording didn’t work. Your previous video is still here. (or The new recording was cancelled. if you cancelled it). Look & voice changes you hadn’t applied yet stay, ready for Update video.
What it keeps and what it replaces
Section titled “What it keeps and what it replaces”It keeps the title, the start page and request, the look, the narrator, the speed, the music, the ratio and the project. Look & voice changes you hadn’t applied yet are used for the new recording.
Once the new video is done, it replaces the recording, the steps and your script changes, and the YouTube titles, description and thumbnail.
Can I change the request?
Section titled “Can I change the request?”Not for a video that already exists: Record again always uses the request and start page it was made with. To record something different, make a new video with the new request.
Minutes
Section titled “Minutes”A new recording uses minutes again, for the full length of the new video, counted once it’s done. The minutes of the video it replaces aren’t given back. A new recording that doesn’t finish uses none.
To start, you need at least the video’s current length plus 30 seconds left. Otherwise you’ll see This video runs 2:10, and you have 1:30 left. Recording it again could cut it short.
