Find video ideas with Discovery

Not sure which videos to make? Discovery points the AI at your app. It clicks around the way a new customer would, then usually suggests 8 to 12 videos worth making. Each idea has a title, why it’s worth making, a ready-made request for the video and the page to start on.

Get ideas

1. Click Discovery in the sidebar, or the Find video ideas pill on the New video page.
2. In Start page, enter a page of your app. If it needs a sign-in, click Check access and sign in, the same as for a video (see Record a site that needs a sign-in).
3. Optionally, fill in Anything to look out for?: who your viewers are, or a part of the app to focus on.
4. Click Find video ideas. It usually takes 2 to 5 minutes, and you can watch the pages it visits as it goes.

Use an idea

Your ideas appear under Your ideas, grouped by each time you ran Discovery.

• Click the heart on the ideas you like. Switch to Favorites to see them all in one place.
• Click See the brief to read the request it wrote.
• Click Make this video to open the New video page with the start page and request filled in. Change anything you like, then click Create video. Afterwards the idea links to its video with Open the video.

Every request Discovery writes ends with the sentence Stop before the final click of anything that deletes, sends, pays or publishes. So a video made from it shows those flows without finishing them. To have the video really delete, send or pay for something, take the sentence out and say what you want in your own words. See What SayScreen won’t do in your account.

It only looks around

Discovery runs in your real account, so it’s held to looking around:

• It can’t type or drag.
• It won’t click buttons that look like they change something, such as delete, save, send, create or invite, or form submit buttons, switches, checkboxes and sign-out links.
• It stays on your site.

It always looks at your app’s desktop layout, whichever shape your videos will be.

A harmless-looking button could still change something in some apps, so a test account is the safest place for Discovery.

Limits

• 5 Discovery runs in any 24 hours, one at a time.
• Discovery doesn’t use your video minutes.

Delete ideas

Click the trash can on a run to delete its ideas, favorites included. Videos you’ve made from them stay.
