Sites and sign-ins
Record a site that needs a sign-in
SayScreen can record pages behind a sign-in. You sign in yourself, once, on the site’s own sign-in page shown right inside SayScreen. SayScreen keeps the signed-in session for that site, like a browser does, and every video and Discovery run you make there uses it. It never saves your password, and the sign-in never appears in a video.
Sign in before you record
Section titled “Sign in before you record”- On the New video page, enter the Start page: a page inside your app, not its sign-in page.
- Click Check access next to it. SayScreen opens the page to see whether it needs a sign-in.
- If it does, a Sign in to site window opens by itself with the site’s sign-in page. Sign in as you would in any browser: click, type, scroll and paste all work, and so do two-step codes, “Sign in with Google” buttons and company single sign-on. Pop-ups and new tabs show up as tabs along the top, with Back and Reload buttons.
- Once you’re past the sign-in screens, the window closes by itself. SayScreen checks the session works (Confirming…), then shows Signed in.
What you might see next to the start page instead:
- No sign-in needed: the page opened without one.
- Sign-in saved: you’ve signed in to this site before.
- Sign in…, with the start page field outlined in red: the page needs a sign-in and no sign-in window is open, for example because you closed it early. Click it to open the window.
- Try again, with the reason under the field: the check couldn’t run, for example because the page couldn’t be opened.
Click any of the green ticks to check again.
If the window stays open after you’re in, because some sites end on a page that looks like part of signing in, close it. SayScreen checks whether you got in either way.
Check access says “No sign-in needed”, but my app needs one
Section titled “Check access says “No sign-in needed”, but my app needs one”Enter a page deeper inside your app, one a signed-out visitor can’t open, and check again. If the start page is the sign-in page itself, such as /login, SayScreen takes it that you want to film that page, so start on a page past it instead.
If you skip the check
Section titled “If you skip the check”Checking first is optional. If the start page turns out to need a sign-in, or the recording runs into one partway through, the video waits: its page says Sign in to site, with a Sign in button. Nothing pops up on its own. Click it, sign in, and recording carries on. If the sign-in screen came partway through, the recording starts over from the beginning, signed in.
A video waits 20 minutes for you to sign in. After that it stops with Nobody signed in to site within 20 minutes. Use Check access to sign in, then Try again.
Your password
Section titled “Your password”- SayScreen keeps the signed-in session, never what you type in the sign-in window. Your password and codes go through to the site and aren’t saved or logged.
- The AI never signs in for you, and only types a password or code that your request writes out. Signing in is always you.
- Password managers and your browser’s extensions can’t reach the sign-in window, because it’s a browser on SayScreen’s server. Pasting works: copy the password, click the field and press Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac).
- Passkeys and security keys can’t be used there. Choose another way to sign in, such as a password and a two-step code.
- The site sees the sign-in coming from SayScreen’s server, not your computer, so the first time it may ask you to confirm it’s you with an email or a code. A captcha in the sign-in window you can do yourself.
- On a phone or tablet, tap to click and drag to scroll. The page is shown smaller to fit.
What’s kept
Section titled “What’s kept”Each site gets its own saved sign-in in your account, kept apart from your everyday browser and from every other account. It holds the site’s signed-in session, including choices like “remember this device”. If you signed in through another service, such as Google, Microsoft or your company’s single sign-on, that service’s session is kept as part of it too.
- Sites on the same domain share one: app.example.com and admin.example.com use the same sign-in.
- There’s one saved sign-in per site. To record as a different user, click Sign in again in Settings and switch user there.
- It lasts until the site ends the session, until you forget it, or until 30 days after your plan ends.
Manage saved sign-ins
Section titled “Manage saved sign-ins”Settings lists them under Sign-ins, with when each was last used. From there you can:
- Sign in again when a session has expired.
- Sign in to a site ahead of time, before you make any videos of it.
- Forget this sign-in (the trash can), to delete SayScreen’s copy. That doesn’t sign you out on the site itself: to end the session there too, sign out of other sessions in the site’s own security settings.
If you close a sign-in window before you’re in, the site shows Not signed in: Still seeing a sign-in page. Try signing in again. A site you never signed in to shows not signed in yet. Click Sign in again, or forget it if you don’t need it.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- You can keep up to 30 saved sign-ins, unfinished ones included.
- One sign-in window can be open at a time. Opening another closes the first.
