Editing your video
Make a vertical video for phones
SayScreen makes videos in two shapes. Choose one with Ratio, under Look on the New video page:
- 16:9 Desktop makes a widescreen video, 1920 by 1080, of the site in a computer-sized window. Best for YouTube, websites and help centers.
- 9:16 Mobile makes a tall video, 1080 by 1920, of the site in a phone-sized window. Best for Shorts, Reels and TikTok.
Both are 60 frames a second. The New video page remembers the ratio you used last in that browser.
What changes in a vertical video
Section titled “What changes in a vertical video”- The site is shown in a phone-sized browser window. A site that adapts to the screen’s width lays itself out as it would on a phone. A site that picks its phone version by device may show its computer layout, narrowed.
- The window around it looks like a phone’s browser, with just the address across the top.
- The pointer is a fingertip, and the narration says “tap” instead of “click”. Nothing is hovered, since phones can’t hover.
- Captions are bigger, for small screens.
The thumbnail is 1280 by 720 for both shapes, the size YouTube asks for.
Changing the shape later
Section titled “Changing the shape later”The ratio is part of the recording, so a finished video keeps it, and Record again keeps it too. For the other shape, make a new video with the same start page and request and choose the other Ratio.
There are no other shapes or sizes: no square videos, no 4K and no 720p.
